About / Approach

Erika Atkins, Principal and Founder

Building the path, together.

The most effective work happens when the strategy is built in the room, not handed over in a binder. I am the person you bring in when you are looking for a true partner to co-create what’s next. I bring structural expertise and an outside perspective to meet your deep knowledge of your mission and community. Together, we ensure that the systems and strategies we build are ones your team actually owns and can sustain.

I work with nonprofit organizations when the work has outgrown existing systems, when leadership or structure is shifting, or when you are ready to design your next chapter with intention. These moments often come with urgency, but I find that what is needed most is the space to see the full picture.

Grounded in Partnership.

My approach starts with listening and mapping what already exists: the people involved, the systems in place, the informal workarounds, and the real constraints shaping your decision-making. From there, I help you make thoughtful decisions about sequencing, scope, and sustainability.

Relational and Direct

This work is honest about limits—including time, money, and capacity. I focus on building clarity and shared ownership rather than quick fixes. Whether I am helping you discover a strategy, facilitating research into a specific friction point, or providing coaching, the goal is to provide clear thinking and practical support that stays with you.

Experience & Perspective

This practice is shaped by years of hands-on work in nonprofit leadership and governance. My perspective is rooted in executive roles and board service across arts and culture ecosystems, having spent my career inside organizations navigating growth, change, and the unique constraints of mission-driven work.
